Garba assures Nigerians on AYC trophy

Coach of the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, Manu Garba says he is confident that his team will triumph at next year’s Africa youth championship even though Nigeria is housed in a group he terms as ‘Group of death’.


Garba while chatting with footballlive.ng maintained that Nigerians should be assured that hosts Senegal, Ivory Coast and Congo will be thoroughly beaten and that Nigeria will attend next year’s FIFA U20 World Cup billed to be hosted by New Zealand as African Champions.

“It’s an interesting draw in the sense that Senegal are hot right now, Ivory Coast is known as a footballing country, Congo is a good team too and Nigeria as far as I am concerned is always a team to beat at this level”

“This is certainly the ‘Group of Death’ and for us. We expect to meet any team if we want to be champions. It is very good that during the qualifiers we already know one or two things about the countries but notwithstanding, we’ll still prepare very hard and our main ambition is to qualify for the world cup as African champions”
