Adrian Mannarino sealed two wins on Wednesday, as he progressed into the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport.
Mannarino, seeded fifth, began the day locked at one-set all in his first-round clash with wildcard Tommy Haas, but the Frenchman got the better of the decider to prevail 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-1) 6-4.
He returned to centre-court later in the afternoon to post a 1-6 6-3 6-2 victory over countryman Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
Mannarino will meet 2009 champion Rajeev Ram in the last eight, after the American continued his run in Rhode Island.
Ram, having overcome top seed John Isner in the first round, was a comfortable 6-4 6-3 victor over Yuichi Sugita.
Sugita's Japanese countryman Tatsuma Ito had more luck, the latter downing American Steve Johnson 6-4 6-4 to book a quarter-final clash with John-Patrick Smith.
Smith, of Australia, eased past Jared Donaldson 6-3 6-1.
Second seed Ivo Karlovic awaits one of Sam Querrey or Dustin Brown in the last eight.
Karlovic got past Malek Jaziri 6-4 7-6 (7-4), while Brown's clash with Querrey was stopped with the German leading 6-2 4-6 4-3.
Fourth seed Jack Sock edged out Lukas Lacko 3-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-4, and will meet Jan Hernych next - the Czech saving a match point on his way past Alejandro Falla 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (9-7).
