Brazil superstar Neymar Jr has launched a new pair of Nike boots that’s custom made to his unique style of play.



The boots, named ‘Ousadia Alegria’, draws inspiration from a tattoo on the calves of the 23-year-old who recently finished third in the Fifa Ballon d’Or poll behind Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Designed by renowned Brazilian artist Bruno Big, the name of the boots translate literally to ‘daring’ and ‘joy’ respectively, which according to Nike captures Neymar’s playing style and persona.

Big used two images to give visual form to the name, a heart for ‘Ousadia’ and a hand for ‘Alegria’, and these are vibrantly displayed across the face of the boots.

“While the graphic is intentionally abstract, the placement is purposeful,” Nike said.

“On the ‘Ousadia’ boot fingers wrap around as if holding it, while on the ‘Alegria’ the fist is centred where it will make contact with the ball.”

The 23-year-old, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem, is expected to unleash the boots on opposition defenders in the coming days.
