Manchester United drops out of the Champions League, joins Europa League after a 3-2 defeat to Wolfsburg
Yesterday, Manchester United dropped out of the Champions League and joined Europa League after an embarrassing 3- 2 defeat to Wolfsburg, becoming the first English side to get eliminated from the league.
The match had kicked off on a good foot after Martial whizzed past Diego Benaglio of Wolfsburg and scoring the first goal for Manchester United at 10 minutes. But Wolfsburg’s Naldo equalized the score after a fee-kick at 13 minutes. From then on, it was battle of the fittest as Vierinha earned Wolfsburg another goal 29 minutes and Manchester United was only able to level with them at 82 minutes after Wolfsburg’s Josuha Guilavogui scores an own goal. But in 2 minutes, Naldo earned Wolfsburg another astonishing goal, putting them in the lead again, something the English team could’t topple even after 2 minutes extra time was added.
At full time, Manchester United were officially out of the Champions League and were heartily welcome to Europa. Now it is countdown to Chelsea’s match with Porto later today and then Arsenal’s. Will they be joining their English counterpart to Europa League?
We all can’t wait!
