Nigerian national boxing coach, Tony Konyegwachie, is elated after guiding the country's boxers to win four gold medals at the just concluded All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.


Konyegwachie told completesportsnigeria that he is happy he was able to keep to his promise of winning gold medals for Nigeria at the games.

"The overall performance of the Nigerian boxers was very good, they did very well. I promised to come back with gold medals and I am happy I kept to my promise by winning four gold medals.

"We won two gold from the men and also two gold from the women, so I am very happy for the achievement," Konyegwachie told completesportsnigeria on Wednesday. 

The Seoul 1988 Olympian said that the boxers, who are on break, will resume camping next month to commence preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

"Our attention is now focused on the Olympic and we will start preparation towards it and hopefully, we will move to camp next month.

"For now, the boxers are on break, they've gone back to their various bases and are expected back hopefully next month."

Oluwafemi Oyeleye, Efe Ajagba (men), Kehinde Obareh and Edith Ogoke (women) all won gold medals for Nigeria, while Caroline Line and Efetobore Apochi both picked up silver medals.
