Former super middleweight world champion Carl Froch retires from boxing

Former super middleweight world champion Carl Froch announced his retirement from boxing on Tuesday.

Froch declared he has "nothing left to prove" as he looks to the next part of his career - working as a pundit.


The 38-year-old Briton hangs up the gloves with a win-loss record of 33-2 from 35 bouts, including 24 knockout victories, while he was never knocked out himself in his professional career.

"I'm incredibly proud of what I have achieved in boxing but now is the right moment to hang up my gloves," Froch told Sky Sports. "I have nothing left to prove and my legacy speaks for itself."
Froch first won a world title in 2008 when he defeated Canada's Jean Pascal for the vacant WBC super middleweight belt.

The IBF super middleweight title was Froch's next major victory, which he claimed in 2012 by knocking out Lucian Bute of Romania.

Froch's last fight was in May last year as he defeated compatriot George Groves at Wembley.
