Chelsea has three players who will feature in the Copa America slated to start June 11, Willian, Filipe Luis and Cuadrado.
Mourinho has now confirmed that these three South Americans will miss the start of the season so they can get the required rest. Willian and Luis will feature for Barcelona while Cuadrado will do same for Colombia.
“They need holidays. It’s very important for them they have their proper rest,” Mourinho told reporters.
“The squad are at the limits of their physical and mental energy. In a couple of weeks they will have their month’s holiday to prepare for pre-season.
“The players in the Copa America will need a rest after that. Willian, Cuadrado and Filipe will not start the season with us, for sure.”
