Super Eagles and Monaco defender Elderson Echejiele has dedicated Wednesday’s UEFA Champions league victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in London to all the Monaco fans that travelled to the away fixture.

The former Bendel Insurance player who was in action for the whole 90 minutes albeit ending the game on a yellow card also said his team will finish off the job in the return fixture at home in two weeks’ time.

“This victory is dedicated to every fan that travelled. Good to have won away from home and hopefully seal it up in France” the player wrote on social media.

Meanwhile, Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger betrayed the depths of his anger and anguish after Arsenal were pressed towards the Champions League exit by Monaco, accusing his team of “suicidal” defending and losing their “nerve and rationality”.

Arsenal slumped 3-1 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie to stare at a fifth successive exit at this stage of the competition on a night when all of the recent positivity, hope and excitement turned to dust.
They were fancied to beat an injury-hit Monaco, who are fourth in Ligue 1, but the game followed a sadly familiar pattern, with Arsenal dropping physically in the second half and over-committing in the search to get back on level terms.

The return leg comes up in the French municipality two weeks from now with Monaco favoured to progress considering their two goal advantage.
