Fernando Torres transfer to AC Milan complete on permanent deal

Chelsea Football Club have confirmed on their official website that striker Fernando Torres will leave the club and join AC Milan on a permanent deal. The Spaniard moved to the Serie A giants on a two-year loan deal in August, but the two clubs have now agreed over a full-time move.


There has been a lot of speculation in the last few days over a return to Atletico Madrid for Torres, as his tenure at the San Siro has been disappointing. His return of 1 goal in 10 games is well below what was expected.

This ends what many would regard as a nightmare for Torres at Stamford Bridge. After moving from Atletico Madrid to Liverpool in 2007, he established himself as one of the best strikers in the world. He then moved to Chelsea in January 2011 for £50 million, a British transfer record fee at the time. But, in three-and-a-half seasons with the Blues, he only managed 20 league goals.

He was though, quite successful with regards to silverware, winning the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Europa League, where he scored the winner in the final. He did have his moments, but never matched the standards he set at Liverpool.
